Where it all beganFrom the Fields of Michoacán to a Dream of Her Own
Mimi’s Organic Inc. was founded in 2015 by Domitila Tapia and her family.
Domitila’s journey began at a young age, working long hours under the sun as a picker for a local farming company in Tierras Blancas Michoacán, Mexico. At 18, she migrated to the United States and continued working as a strawberry picker.
As she struggled to make ends meet, she knew she wanted to change her circumstances and build a better future for herself and her family. She understood that learning English would help her move forward, so she attended classes and learned to speak English within six months.
This achievement opened doors to new connections and opportunities that helped bring her dream closer to reality.
Domitila envisioned having her own crops while maintaining the traditional organic farming practices she had learned in Michoacán. With her determination and deep understanding of farming, she established her first plantation and began building the business that would become Mimi’s Organic Inc.
Her journey remains at the heart of our company: a story of perseverance, family, and the determination to create something lasting.
